In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard info@whitstablelifeboat.org.uk

On 24th July at 4.35pm the lifeboat was launched to a report of a person in the water off Warden Bay, Isle of Sheppey however, the lifeboat was subsequently ‘stood down’ by the coastguard.

At 5.04pm the coastguard tasked the lifeboat to a man in an inflatable off Leysdown, Isle of Sheppey but the lifeboat was again ‘stood down’ when it was reported he was safely ashore.

The lifeboat was then requested to search for a 17-foot speedboat with 2 persons onboard whose last known position was in the vicinity of the Kentish Flats Wind farm.

The lifeboat crew commenced a search of the area and, following another report from the Herne Bay Mobile Coastguard the casualty was located by the most easterly turbine. The craft and its occupants were taken under tow and landed at Herne Bay where the coastguard unit was waiting.

There have now been 28 calls on Whitstable’s volunteer lifeboat crews so fat this year.
