In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Whitstable Lifeboat Station held a very successful open day on Bank Holiday Monday with numerous visitors taking the opportunity to inspect the lifeboat in its carriage along with the launching tractor on the pad outside the boathouse.

Children of all ages enjoyed boarding the lifeboat and sitting in the helmsman and crew positions as did several parents no doubt imagining what it would be like to be part of the crew on a call.

Members of the crew were kept busy answering the many questions asked and Whitstable Lifeboat Visits Officer David Hayward was on hand to put over the sea safety message.

Said David ‘It was a really good day and the weather was fantastic and brought out lots of visitors to the station who enjoyed the opportunity to climb aboard the lifeboat and take lots of pictures
