In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Whitstable’s Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Lewisco was launched at 10.45am on Thursday 16th September to assist an 11-metre yacht which had gone aground with two persons onboard at the ‘Middle Sand’ to the west of the Kentish Flats wind farm. A wind farm workboat was also ‘standing by’ at the scene.

On arrival a lifeboat crewmember went onboard the craft and a tow-line passed following which the vessel was towed clear of the sandbank.

After checking for any ingress of water the yacht continued on it’s passage from Brighton to Harwich and the lifeboat returned to station.
