In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Whitstable’s Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Lewisco was launched at 11.51 on Friday 25th November following a report of a yellow kayak thought to be in distress off Tankerton in the strong north-easterly force 5 wind.

The lifeboat located the craft and its male occupant 500-metres north of The Royal public house who reported that he was not in any difficulties and continued on his way to Herne Bay.

The lifeboat therefore returned to station with the call being logged as a false alarm with good intent.
