In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Whitstable Lifeboat was launched at 5.33pm on Wednesday following a report of a craft in difficulty with its occupant ‘apparently’ bailing out the craft off Harty Ferry in The Swale. The lifeboat arrived ‘on scene’ and located a ‘round Britain rower’ at anchor having entered The Swale to take shelter from the prevailing weather conditions. He reported that he did not require any assistance and the lifeboat crew satisfied that he was safe returned to station.

The call was recorded as a ‘false alarm with good intent’.

This was the 12th call of the year for Whitstable’s volunteer lifeboat crews.
