Whitstable’s Atlantic 85 Lifeboat was launched twice on Saturday to incidents at Herne Bay and the Isle of Sheppey.

The lifeboat was launched first at 1533 following a request for assistance with first aid at the Neptune Jetty during the Herne Bay Airshow.

Lifeboat crew members were landed ashore to assist the coastguard. Two casualties, one male, one female, both suffering from chest pains and one with a head injury were transferred by the lifeboat across the harbour and landed ashore by the Neptune car park for better access by the ambulance service and paramedics.

The lifeboat was released to return to station but at 1652 was re-launched following a report of a 9 year old boy missing in the Warden Bay area of the Isle of Sheppey. The lifeboat commenced a search but was stood down at 1718 when the child was discovered in an amusement arcade.
