In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard Whitstable@rnli.org.uk

Whitstable Lifeboat has been called out on two successive evenings so far this week.

On Sunday evening the lifeboat was launched at 5.26pm following a report of 5 persons in the water and possibly in difficulties approximately 100-metres off the East quay of Whitstable harbour.

The lifeboat arrived on scene and the crew spoke to the first informant who reported that the persons were now safe onshore.

On Monday evening the lifeboat was launched at 8.33pm to a report of a kitesurfer in difficulties off Hampton Pier, Herne Bay.

The lifeboat arrived on scene and the crew located a kayak towing a kitesurfer and his board towards the shore. Assistance was declined, however the lifeboat kept watch until all were safely ashore.

There have now been 18 calls on Whitstable’s volunteer lifeboat crews so far this year.
