In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard info@whitstablelifeboat.org.uk

Whitstable’s Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Lewisco was launched at 4.36pm on Wednesday 7th September to assist a broken down motor cruiser with two occupants onboard off Leysdown, Isle of Sheppey.

Whitstable Lifeboat Helmsman Dave Parry said “We located the 26-foot craft 2-miles north east of Leysdown and took it under tow for Whitstable Harbour”.

“The craft, a ‘Bayliner’ motor cruiser was placed alongside the south quay where two engineers whom the skipper had arranged to meet the vessel were waiting”.

The vessel’s skipper Daniel Hawkes said “We were on a ‘delivery passage’ on behalf of the owner from Ramsgate to Staines when we developed engine problems, we have had a fantastic service from the lifeboat and although we try not to use them, it is great to know they are there when needed”.

This was the 45th call of the year for Whitstable’s volunteer lifeboat crews.
