In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

The Whitstable Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Lewisco was launched at 10.02am on Thursday 12th October to assist a 30ft motor cruiser broken down with electrical problems and one person onboard at anchor in the vicinity of the Columbine Spit Buoy between Whitstable and the Isle of Sheppey.

The lifeboat crew located the casualty vessel and a crewmeber transferred to assist with the anchor before the craft was towed to a mooring off Harty Ferry and the owner landed ashore on the Faversham side of the Swale.

The vessels owner came from Southampton.

This was the 44th call of the year for Whitstable’s volunteer lifeboat crews.
