In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

The Whitstable Atlantic 85 lifeboat Lewisco was launched at 07.58 on Sunday morning following a report from the UK Coastguard of a yacht aground in the entrance to Faversham Creek.

The lifeboat arrived at the scene but there was no sign of the craft. The lifeboat proceeded further up the creek and the crew spoke to the occupant of an angling boat who reported that he had earlier towed a yacht into deeper water.

At 08.25 the lifeboat located the yacht just south of the Sand End Buoy in the entrance to the Swale. Both the occupants of the craft reported  that they were now not in need of assistance and were continuing on their passage to Ramsgate.

At 08.31 the lifeboat was requested to assist a catamaran with engine failure reported as being in the Swale between Faversham Creek and Conyer Creek.

The  20-foot vessel was located near to the Horse Sand and taken under tow to a mooring and the two occupants landed ashore at their request.

Weather conditions: North force 3 winds.

Crew: Dave Parry (Helmsman), Oz Warren, Craig Sidders and Tim Smith. Launchers: Mark Sidders (Tractor) Clive Best, Kelly Gray, Rob Nichols and Andy Mayo, Alex Quan.

There have now been 25 calls on  the Whitstable volunteer lifeboat crews so far this year.
