In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Whitstable’s Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Lewisco was launched at 1.34pm on Saturday to assist a 22-foot yacht broken down about 5-miles off the town.

The lifeboat crew located the craft with two occupants onboard a 1/2-mile south west of the Middle Sand Beacon. A crewmember was placed onboard the casualty to assist and the yacht taken under tow for Whitstable harbour and moored alongside assisted by a lifeboat shore party.

Crew: Dave Parry (Helmsman) Steve Wynn, Oz Warren and Tim Smith.

Launchers: Neil Pepper (Tractor) Alex Quan, Kellie Gray and Vicky Kypta.

Weather conditions: South westerly force 3 winds.

This was the 26th call of the year for Whitstable’s volunteer lifeboat crews.
