In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Whitstable Lifeboat was launched at 9.47pm on Tuesday following a report of a paddle boarder possibly in difficulties heading out from Tankerton towards Herne Bay.

The lifeboat searched from Tankerton to Hampton and back and was joined in the search by the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Lydd whilst the Herne Bay mobile coastguard conducted a search of the shoreline.

After a search lasting over an hour nothing was found and all units were stood down to return to their respective stations. The lifeboat was washed down, refuelled and ready for service at 1am.
