In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Whitstable’s Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Lewisco was diverted from an exercise on Sunday morning to assist a ‘sports’ boat aground with 8-persons onboard on the Horse Sand in the entrance to The Swale.

The lifeboat arrived at the scene at 12.01pm and the crew located the craft along with three Jet Skis all aground on the sandbank.

The lifeboat crew assisted in refloating two of the Jet Skis whilst the other remained aground for its owner to recover later.

The lifeboat then transferred 6 persons including 2 children from the ‘sports’ boat and landed them ashore at the Faversham side of Harty Ferry. Two others remained onboard to await the tide on Sunday evening.

Whilst returning from this call the lifeboat came across a 16-foot ‘dory’ with two persons onboard broken down off Whitstable.
The craft was taken under tow to the Faversham side of Harty Ferry after which the lifeboat returned to station.
