In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Whitstable’s Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Lewisco was launched at 5.12pm on Saturday 16th April to assist the 23-foot motor cruiser Dawn Approach broken down with three persons onboard and drifting off Leysdown.

The lifeboat crew located the craft aground a ¼-mile offshore between Shellness and Leysdown. The craft was towed into deeper water and subsequently to Whitstable Harbour. The vessel had suffered a fuel problem. Its owner came from Gravesend.

Weather conditions at the time were force 3 north westerly breezes.

This was the 10th call of the year for the stations volunteer crews.
